This course will help the adult learner with developing their reading skills to prepare them for college or everyday life. This course will also help the adult learner with reading in context, using context clues to help them improve their reading comprehension. This course is designed for the adult learner, especially English Language Learner learn phonics such as prefixes, and suffixes. This course will express the importance of reading daily to become a better reader. This course will cover basic to advance vocabulary to help each adult learner develop their understanding of the English vocabulary used to help them build their daily vocabulary use. Students will learn how to use context clues to understand the vocabulary, that will assist the adult learner with finding the correct definition of a word without always relying on the dictionary. Students will have access to games, worksheets, and other learning material that will help them put what they have learned into practice and to gain the knowledge needed to help them with college and everyday reading. In this course, students will learn or review what the main idea and supporting details are, along with learning how to find the main idea and supporting details within a paragraph. Learning signal words in the English language are vital to our reading and writing skills. Students in this course will learn how to make inferences when reading and learn the importance of becoming critical thinkers and readers.
