Description
This course has developed over the last 15 years where I mentored psychology dissertation students in a range of methodologies, and noticed that they often struggled with similar issues. These are the building blocks of what makes a good dissertation project. Here I have brought together these main issues, and explained how to address them, giving examples. This course is for psychology students who are embarking on their dissertation/final project. It teaches you how to plan a strong foundation, so that you consider the important details of your study, avoiding pitfalls that could be time-consuming or problematic in various ways. Session 1 identifies each element of the dissertation that needs to be planned, and how to do this; Session 2 helps you identify which literature to include in your proposal, specify a gap in the research literature, and consider which measures to include in your study; Session 3 helps you apply general ethics principles to your project specifically, identify potential ethical problems with your project, and consider how to rectify these potential issues. During the course I discuss a number of checklists that you can (and should!) apply to your own projects. So please make time to go through these checklists and amend your ideas accordingly, so as to strengthen the project you are planning.
