What can we know about the everyday experiences of Christians during the fourth, fifth, and sixth centuries? Occasionally they attended church liturgies, sought out local healers, and visited martyrs' shrines. Barely and rarely mentioned in ancient texts, common Christians remain nameless and undifferentiated.​
